Multidiscplinary Design
The North America design industry appears to have a lack of trust with a holistic design system and instead tends to reward practice models built on specialization, supporting the opinion that if you do a number of things, you must not do them as well as someone who only does one thing. The result has been the fragmentation of the design industry where designers have become a service to produce a product. Yes, some of these products being truly innovative. But we have given up a much more influential role, the ability to problem solve at the larger level.
